The existing orphanage, housing 40 children with just three bedrooms and twelve beds, requires expansion. To address this, we aim to add more living space and construct additional rooms, like classrooms, for on-site education. This approach not only improves living conditions but also proves economically efficient by eliminating the need for external teacher hires.

Since the 2021 assassination of Haiti's president, stark disparities have grown between Northern Haiti and the rest of the country, particularly the southern region. Port-au-Prince, in the south, grapples with chaos, gang control, and rampant kidnappings, making life for its residents harrowing. In contrast, Northern Haiti has maintained relative political stability during this tumultuous period, though it faces broader economic and social challenges.
A fundamental contrast between Northern Haiti and other regions of the country lies in the gravity of the issues they face. In the northern part of the country, the primary concerns revolve around the steady escalation of food prices, recurring gasoline shortages, and the ongoing challenge of finding gainful employment. While these problems are undoubtedly significant and deserving of attention, they appear relatively manageable when juxtaposed with the dire situation in southern Haiti, which is marred by pervasive violence and insecurity.
When we consider these contrasting realities, it becomes evident that directing humanitarian aid and development efforts towards Northern Haiti is a strategic and compassionate choice. Focusing resources on this more stable region can serve as the cornerstone for broader progress, potentially extending the benefits of stability and prosperity to other parts of the nation once security is firmly established. This approach not only addresses the immediate suffering experienced by the people of Northern Haiti but also sets the stage for a brighter, more peaceful, and prosperous future for the entire country.
By emphasizing the development and stability of Northern Haiti, we create a ripple effect that can gradually permeate throughout the nation, ultimately fostering a sense of unity, resilience, and hope. It is a strategic investment in the present and a promising step toward a more harmonious and flourishing national landscape.
